EXPOSITORY (ENGLISH BIBLE)
6:45-56 The church is often like a ship at sea, tossed with tempests, and not comforted: we may have Christ for us, yet wind and tide against us; but it is a comfort to Christ's disciples in a storm, that their Master is in the heavenly mount, interceding for them. And no difficulties can hinder Christ's appearance for his people, when the set time is come. He silenced their fears, by making himself known to them. Our fears are soon satisfied, if our mistakes are set right, especially our mistakes as to Christ. Let the disciples have their Master with them, and all is well. It is for want of rightly understanding Christ's former works, that we view his present works as if there never were the like before. If Christ's ministers now could cure people's bodily diseases, what multitudes would flock after them! It is sad to think how much more most care about their bodies than about their souls. They knew him - They "recollected" Jesus, because he had been there before and worked miracles.55. and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was—At this period of our Lord's ministry the popular enthusiasm in His favor was at its height. See Poole on "Mark 6:53"

And ran through that whole region round about,.... That is, the inhabitants of that part of the country where Christ landed, ran many of them themselves, and others sent messengers into all parts of it, on every side:

and began to carry about in beds those that were sick; or lame, or so disordered that they could not walk, or bear any other way of being carried: these they brought to him,

where they heard he was: in whatsoever part of the country they could learn he was in; for he went about from place to place doing good.

And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
EXEGETICAL (ORIGINAL LANGUAGES)
Mark 6:55. ἐπὶ τοῖς κραββάτοις, upon their beds, vide Mark 2:4.—περιφέρειν, to carry about from place to place. If they did not find Jesus at one place, they were not discouraged, but carried their sick to another place where He was likely to be. Their energy, not less than the word κραββάτοις, recalls the story in Mark 2:1-12.—ὅπου ἤκουον ὅτι ἔστιν, not: wherever He was = ὅπου ἦν, but: wherever they were told He was; ἐστιν, present, from the point of view of those who gave the information in indirect discourse. Vide on this, Burton, M. and T., § 351.

Mark 6:55. Ἐπὶ τοῖς) The dative: in beds, as they had been lying.

Mark 6:55Ran round

From place to place where the sick were, to bring them to Jesus. Matthew has they sent.

Carry about (περιφέρειν)

περί, about; one hither and another thither, wherever Christ might be at the time.

Beds (κραβάττοις)

Condemned as bad Greek, but used by both Luke and John. See on Mark 2:4.
